6-7 Oct 2007 ... I recently performed at the NWEAMO festival as part of Mobile Performance Group, the new media collective at Stetson. We spent two days wandering San Diego and the SDSU campus collecting sounds and image to use in our improvised performance. The performance took place outside the performing arts center at San Diego State University on Friday and Saturday. Friday night we collaborated with a few of the SDSU dance students, and I love how the performance turned out. Click on the thumbnail for images, movies, and audio from the performance.

29 Sept 2007 ... Orbit was an accident, really. It began life as an exercise in processing the sounds of various members of the traditional wind ensemble. The clarinet was the first instrument chosen for the experiment for its dynamic range and wide variety of extended techniques. I walked into the recording booth, improvised for a little while, then started processing. I was very interested in the way the harmonics of the clarinet sound separated once reverb was applied. I improvised a little more, added some multiphonics and more digital processing, and it suddenly became a piece. Click on the thumbnail for program notes and audio samples.

Summer & Fall 2007 ... In February of 2007, I submitted a proposal to the Stetson Undergraduate Research Experience grant program entitled "The Online Graphical Community as a Potential Interface for Interactive Music Performance". The proposal was accepted and the research was conducted that summer under the supervision of Dr. Nathan Wolek. March 2007 ... The original version of Tick was composed for a short experimental video done by a classmate. The current version is a short piece that aurally describes the nervous habits of human beings. Phasing in the core rhythmic line gives the piece a feeling of unease and disturbs the listener's sense of time. The piece's rhythmic clash gives it constant motion, while the steadily thickening texture and harmony propel it forward until the nerves release...

13 Oct 2006 ... The Stetson Digital Arts Department hosted guest lecturers Jonah Brucker-Cohen and Katherine Moriwaki for their Scrapyard Challenge workshop and lecture. "The Scrapyard Challenge Workshops are intensive workshops where participants build simple electronic projects (both digital and analog inputs) out of found or discarded 'junk'". Click on the thumbnail to see a few pictures of my participation in the workshop. You can see all 110 pictures from the Stetson workshop here at the SC homepage.
